Monologue part 5
This was my final recording of my monologue. During this process, I have settled into the role well and learnt about the character and how she would respond to the person in front of her. The improvised part at the beginning allowed me to get into character and be able to show that she is already impatient and sarcastic towards Jessie. This also made the monologue flow a lot better than before and this made me fall into the character so much easier than I had in the first few run throughs.
Video one feedback:
This was so much better than the previous ones. I liked how you transitioned between writing and talking. This felt more like a therapist talking than previously, which is the character. You looked more in character and the tone of your voice was really strong.
Video two feedback:
This was again, better. I liked how you pointed to where she was supposed to sit. I’m not sure, but it feels as if you start from nowhere, there isn’t something that makes you start talking so maybe try and think of something that you can use as a point to start talking.
This feedback is the most important because I now have the monologue in a good place, but there are small parts that just need tweaking and this will make it almost perfect. This is going to be the way that we teach the students, by giving them feedback then having them work on their part, then giving them more feedback on it. It is important that we give them constructive criticism that will not make them feel less confident but something that will improve on their style of acting.
